| 1.What is a laser? | ||||
Laser is an acronym of Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. A laser is a cavity that has mirrors at the ends and is filled with lasable material such as crystal, glass, liquid, gas, or dye. These materials must have atoms, ions, or molecules capable of being excited to a metastable state by light, electric discharge, or other stimulus. The transition from this metastable state back to the normal ground state is accompanied by the emission of photons which form a coherent beam. |

At present there are two kinds of main laser sub-surface engraving machines. One is a diode pumped Nd: YAG laser sub-surface engraving machine, the other is a lamp pumped solid state laser sub-surface engraving machine. Diode pumped laser sub-surface engraving machine uses a diode pumped solid state such as Nd: YAG to generate laser, it has high laser output speed, and no consumables, but the machine price is very high. Lamp pumped Nd: YAG Laser sub-surface engraving machine adopts Xenon lamp pumped Nd:YAG to generate the laser. Generally the engraving speed is limited by the repetition rate, and it needs to change Xenon lamp every two or three months, but the price is cheap. Lamp pumped Nd: YAG laser sub-surface engraving machine can meet the common requirement, and it has less risk with high rate of return. LGYAG-800/900 series laser sub-surface engraving machine uses Xenon lamp pumped Nd:YAG laser technology. |

Laser sub-surface engraving machine controls the laser output interval through the computer control technology according to the image points array. One point controls one laser output. Each point shall be burnt singly inside the transparent material by one laser output, thousands of small burnt points form sub-surface engraving images. LGYAG-800 series laser sub-surface engraving machine use 3d worktable (X, Y, Z axis) to control the movement of crystal (Laser is not mobile) and can engrave the big size of crystal. LGYAG-900 series laser sub-surface engraving machine use galvanometer to control the coordinate of laser, and use Z axis to control the Z-direction movement of crystal. |

Point-cloud image consists of abundant small points which are created by the special point-cloud converting software from a common two dimension or three dimension image. These points shall be engraved by laser machine according to the array order one by one. Each point will be burnt inside the transparent material, all the burnt points form the engraved image inside the crystal. |

Engraving an image inside the transparent material successfully needs two kinds of software. One is point-cloud converting software, the other is engraving control software. |

Water, power and Xenon lamp. The pure water in cooling machine is to be changed if the water become turbid. We recommend it is to be changed every month. Xenon lamp can be changed with a new one if the engraving quality is descending. Generally, one Xenon lamp can be used for about two or three months if the machine keep working about 8 hours everyday. |

| 8.What kind of digital equipment can be used for our laser machine? | ||||
We have the special point-cloud converting software,it accepts BMP,ASC,DXF, CAD,PNT etc file format. That is to say, any image from a digital equipment, if its output file format is one of the above-mentioned, our software can accept it, and our machine can engrave it. So, our machine can use all cameras, scanners, vidicons etc. The machine only needs an image wherever it comes from. An email photo, a photo in album, a digital photo, or other letters and words, and other images can be engraved by our laser sub-surface engraving machine.But the precondition is the image quality output by the digital equipment must be good, or else, the engraved image is not good. The machine is not changed, but the image quality is not same. |

| 10.Can all the laser sub-surface engraving machine engrave 3d portrait or images? | ||||
Theoretically, all the sub-surface engraving machines can engrave all the images including the 3d portrait inside some transparent material. Laser sub-surface engraving machine is only used for output laser and locating the special position of laser point or the transparent material. It does not deal with any image. The image is pre-processed by the point-cloud converting software. The machine only accepts the input point-cloud image and engraves the points inside the transparent material by the engraving control software (This software only control the movement of laser or the transparent material). A 3d portrait output by a 3d camera has to be converted into a 3d point-cloud image first. 3d portrait point-cloud image is one of point-cloud images. So, 3d portrait laser subs-urface engraving machine is only a conception, in fact, it can engrave all the point-cloud images inside the transparent material. That is to say, all the sub-surface engraving machines can engrave all the point-cloud images inside some transparent materials if they have the powerful point-cloud converting software. |

We recommend you use K9 grade blank crystal with high quality. The crystal with inferior quality will effect your output and waste your time. Commonly, a crystal with superior quality has no bubble inside, no black dot inside, no dirt inside, no ripple inside, no scratch, high difinition, high transparence, the tolerance of size shall be less than 1mm. The best common way is to check the crystals by a strong light. |
